What is COP

 COP is a plastic raw material named cyclo olefin polymer, developed and produced by Zeon Corporation of Japan, used for medical optical components and high-end pharmaceutical packaging materials, its raw material characteristics: high transparency, low birefringence, low water absorption, high rigidity, high heat resistance, water Good steam tightness, in line with FDA standards.

(1) The density is small, about 10% lower than PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) and PC (polycarbonate), which is conducive to the lightweight of products;

(2) The saturated water absorption rate is small, and the water absorption rate of COC is much lower than that of PMMA, and there will be no effect of physical property degradation caused by water absorption, and almost no water absorption;

(3) Because it contains monomers with small polarity and anisotropy, it is an amorphous transparent material with small birefringence;

(4) It is a high heat-resistant transparent resin with a glass transition temperature of 140~170°C, and the glass transition temperature is an index of heat resistance of amorphous polymers;

(5) Easy injection molding;

(6) Excellent mechanical properties, higher tensile strength and elastic modulus than PC;

(7) Excellent replicability, so the product quality is high;

(8) Low dielectric constant, especially good high-frequency performance, is the material with the best dielectric properties in thermoplastics;

(9) Good scratch resistance, COC pencil hardness is similar to PMMA, scratch resistance is an important performance index of optical materials;

(10) The side chain of COC molecules has polar groups, which has good adhesion to inorganic and organic materials and is easy to seal;

(11) COP green plastic, with very little impurity content, so there is no need to worry about analyzing impurities, which is suitable for the requirements of semiconductors and medical devices;

(12) COP has excellent chemical resistance, acid resistance and alkali resistance;

(13) COP is almost impermeable to water vapor, which meets the requirements of applications that also require moisture protection.
